Mold Removal in Shreveport, LA
If your house in Shreveport smells musty when the air conditioner kicks on, or a ceiling stain keeps coming back after every hard rain, you are probably looking at mold that needs more than a scrub brush. Our mold removal service in Shreveport starts by finding the water behind it, then takes the growth out under containment, with an independent air test before the job is signed off. We work in older pier-and-beam houses, 1950s brick ranches and newer builds across Caddo and Bossier Parish. Call (318) 666-4874 to book an inspection or to get a written price for mold removal.

Mold removal service for Shreveport homes
Most of the calls we get fall into a handful of situations. Pick the one that sounds like your house; the page behind each link explains that job in more detail.
Under the floor. Raised houses sit over clay soil that holds water after rain. When the plastic on the ground has torn, or was never put down, the joists stay damp and mold creeps along the underside of the floor. See crawl space mold removal.
In the bathroom. Dark growth on the ceiling over the tub, around the window frame, or pushing through the grout from a shower pan that has quietly failed. See bathroom mold removal.
Up in the attic. A bath fan blowing into the attic instead of outdoors, or a roof leak from a spring storm, leaves the underside of the roof deck stained and fuzzy. See attic mold removal.
In the AC. A wet coil, a clogged drain line or a sweating closet around the air handler grows mold that the system then blows into every room. See mold in AC units, vents and ducts.
After a leak, a freeze or a flood. Water that sat for more than a day or two is where mold gets its start. If the house is still wet, the job is drying it out; if growth has already begun, it is removal. See water damage restoration and mold after a flood.
Black mold. Dark growth is what most people call us about. An independent assessor can sample it so you know what it is, and it comes out with the same care as any other growth. See black mold removal.
Textured ceilings. Older popcorn ceilings with water marks get an asbestos test before anyone scrapes them. See popcorn ceiling mold.
Businesses and rentals. Offices, shops, churches and rental units, scheduled around your hours and your tenants. See commercial mold remediation.
How we remove mold, start to finish
1. An independent assessment first. Louisiana does not allow one company to both assess and remediate mold on the same property, so an independent assessor visits with a moisture meter and a thermal camera, looks under the floor and up in the attic, takes samples where they answer a question, and writes the report. More on that under mold inspection and testing in Shreveport.
2. The water source, named. Mold is what you see; water is what feeds it. The report names the source, whether that is a plumbing leak, a torn vapor barrier, a bad piece of roof flashing or an AC drain, and who should fix it. The removal is then priced in writing by a separate remediation contractor.
3. We seal off the work area. Plastic walls, a zip door, and a filtered air machine that keeps loose spores inside the work area instead of drifting down the hall.
4. We take out what cannot be cleaned. Moldy sheetrock, insulation, carpet pad and trim are cut out and bagged. Framing and joists that are still sound get cleaned, sanded where needed and treated. Nothing gets painted over to hide it. The details are on the mold remediation page.
5. We dry it, then it is tested. Fans and dehumidifiers bring the wood back to normal moisture. On bigger jobs the independent assessor sends an air sample from inside the work area to a lab with an outdoor sample for comparison, and the plastic stays up until the result says the room is clear.
6. We put it back together. New sheetrock, insulation and paint, quoted on its own line so you can see what the removal costs and what the rebuild costs.
Why mold keeps showing up in Shreveport houses
Three things work together here. The first is the ground: much of the city sits on clay that holds water, and older homes built on piers have a crawl space right on top of it. The second is the housing itself: historic districts such as South Highlands were built mostly between 1900 and 1949, and older houses carry plaster walls, original bathrooms and old ductwork with decades of small leaks behind them. The third is the weather: long humid summers with the AC running most of the day, spring storms that push rain past old windows, and hard freezes like the February 2021 storms, when broken mains and pipes left most of the city's water customers without service. Any one of those can start mold. When two of them meet in the same house, it comes back until the moisture is dealt with.

Questions people in Shreveport ask about mold removal
Who removes mold from homes in Shreveport?
A mold remediation contractor, and in Louisiana it has to be a different firm from the one that assessed the house. A handyman or a cleaning crew can wipe a small patch off tile, but anything inside sheetrock, under the floor, in the attic or in the ductwork needs the area sealed off, the damaged material taken out, and the moisture source found. We arrange both the assessment and the removal across Shreveport, Bossier City and nearby towns.

I have a mold problem in my house. What should I do first?
Stop the water if you can: shut off a leaking supply line, put a bucket under a drip, and run the AC or a dehumidifier to bring the humidity down. Leave the growth alone rather than scrubbing or sanding it, because that puts spores in the air. Then have it looked at, so the source and the size of the job are clear before anyone starts tearing things out.

How much does it cost to remove mold from a house in Shreveport?
Most single-room jobs run $1,500 to $4,500, and a small area under ten square feet $500 to $1,500. Crawl spaces, attics and whole-house HVAC jobs cost more; the range for each is on the cost page. The inspection, $300 to $600, is what turns a range into a written number.

Can a house with mold be saved?
Almost always. Mold ruins the soft materials it grows in, like sheetrock, insulation and carpet pad, and those get replaced. The framing, joists and subfloor are usually sound and can be cleaned and treated. What decides whether the fix lasts is whether the water problem behind it gets fixed too.
Call (318) 666-4874 or request a callback.
How long does mold removal take?
A single room usually takes one to two days once the area is sealed off, a crawl space two to four, and a whole-house air handler and duct job about a week. Drying time can add to that when the wood is soaked.

Is getting a mold inspection worth it?
When you can smell mold but cannot find it, when it keeps coming back, or when you are buying, selling or renting out a house, yes. The inspection finds where it is and why, so the removal is sized right and done once. If the growth is visible and the cause is obvious, we can often price the removal from the first visit.

Will insurance pay for mold removal?
It depends on the policy and on what caused the mold. Mold that follows a sudden event, such as a burst pipe or storm damage, is sometimes covered. Mold from a slow leak or long-term humidity usually is not. Your adjuster decides; we give you the inspection report and the photos they normally ask for.

Does Louisiana have rules about who can do mold remediation?
Yes, Louisiana regulates who can do mold remediation work. Before you hire any company, including us, ask to see its state paperwork and proof of insurance, and check them with the state yourself.
